How to Find Your Dress Size: US to French Size Guide
Share
Buying a dress online is easy once you know your size. Our dresses are labelled in US sizes, so here is how to convert them to French sizes and how to measure yourself to find the best fit.
US to French size conversion
Use this table as a starting point. These are approximate equivalents:
- XS (US 2) = FR 34
- S (US 4–6) = FR 36–38
- M (US 8–10) = FR 40–42
- L (US 12–14) = FR 44–46
- XL (US 16) = FR 48
- 2XL (US 18) = FR 50
How to measure yourself
You only need a soft measuring tape. Measure over light underwear, standing straight and relaxed. Keep the tape snug but not tight.
- Bust: measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape horizontal.
- Waist: measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
- Hips: stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips.
- Height: useful for maxi dresses, to know where the hem will fall.
Use the model as a reference
Our product photos show a model who is 168 cm tall and wears size M (bust 93 cm, waist 74 cm, hips 100 cm). Compare her measurements with yours: if you are taller, a maxi dress will fall slightly higher on you; if you are shorter, it may touch the floor.
Between two sizes?
- For fitted styles (bodycon, structured bodices), choose the larger size.
- For flowing styles (A-line, tiered, wrap or belted dresses), your usual size is generally fine, as the waist can often be adjusted with the belt or tie.
- Check the Fit line in each product description – it tells you whether the dress is fitted or relaxed.
